YouTube Pix Application (Google Cloud OAuth2 project)

What is the YouTube Pix application?

YouTube Pix is an application designed for record companies that partner with IDOL for their digital music distribution. It interacts with other IDOL applications, notably with its “Labelcamp” UI, where the IDOL partners can control their digital music distribution activities.

The scope of the app covers two main areas, each of them requiring access to Google users data. For that purpose, IDOL partners have expressly requested the YouTube Pix app to either write in a YouTube CMS they control by uploading Audio-videos (static videos of music audio tracks) on their channels, and/or access their YouTube Partner API account to retrieve associated data.

Audio-video Uploading

YouTube Pix requires authentication to a Google user account to enable the user to upload Audio-videos on the channels attached to its YouTube CMS directly from the app.

The YouTube Pix app provides Google users a unique means to control and automate the delivery of Audio-videos to their YouTube channels. Audio-videos are generated by the app from their audio music catalogue, eliminating the need of a third-party video production software, while allowing to scale up the amount of Audio-videos content uploaded in the YouTube channels. Also, the app automatically claims and applies the chosen monetization policy on the uploaded audio-videos.

Use of YouTube Partner API Data

Retrieving YouTube Music Videos and Assets

On a daily basis, The YouTube Pix app connects to the YouTube Partner API of the IDOL partners through their Google user accounts, in order to automatically retrieve music assets and videos that are uploaded on the various YouTube channels belonging to their CMS.

The metadata and information extracted from the Partner API is stored in the YouTube Pix app’s database, along with each partner’s digital music catalogues. These automated processes help break down and itemize revenues coming from consumption of all types of YouTube assets on the YouTube Music services, after matching the extracted data with the monthly YouTube Music financial reports.

Importing Daily YouTube Music Consumption Reports

YouTube Pix also uses the YouTube Partner API to import daily consumption reports provided by YouTube Music to each Content Owner (named “content_owner_asset_basic_a2”).

The daily data extracted from these reports will feed each IDOL partner’s analytics dashboards showing specific, granular information related to the daily consumption of their music catalogue on the various YouTube Music services. The YouTube Music data is aggregated with other consumption data coming from third-party digital music services, with comparison and cross-services analysis tools.

Privacy Policy

YouTube Pix’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
The Labelcamp application’s privacy policy can be found at https://idol.io/privacy-policy/.
