‘All for U (Ameyatchi)’ certified gold single
‘All for U (Ameyatchi)’ has recently been certified a gold single. Released just before the summer, the track was written by King Serenity, who enlisted the services of one of Cameroon’s finest vocalists, Locko, and Colombian artist Sergio Alejandro. On a side note, the word “Ameyatchi” comes from Wolof, and “refers to an esteemed figure who possesses vast knowledge, wisdom, and deep spiritual insight”. The promotion was carried out by SLS, Scorpio Music’s external promotion department.
Upon the announcement of the certification, Locko shared his emotion on social networks: “The first GOLDEN SINGLE of my career … a kid’s dream come true”. The clip, which has over 3 million views, was shot in sunny Guadeloupe.
The track ‘All for U (Ameyatchi)’ was released by Can’t Stop Productions, a label founded in 1975 in New York and recently reborn in Paris. Founded by Henri Belolo, the label was one of the dance music pioneers. With the help of Jacques Morali, Henri Belolo was, among others, behind the band Village People, which left its mark on the disco scene with the tracks ‘Go West’ (later made famous by the Pet Shop Boys), ‘Y.M.C.A’ and ‘In the Navy’. In 1979, this group earned Henri a prestigious Grammy Award from the Recording Academy.
The Can’t Stop Productions adventure stopped in the mid-80s with the end of the disco era: Henri Belolo returned to France and became involved with the SPPF (Civil Society of Producers of Phonograms in France), which he co-founded in 1986. The publisher, producer and Knight of Legion of Honour since 2016, passed away in 2019. Can’t Stop Productions, now headed by Anthony Belolo, ensuring the consistency of the initial vision, continues his legacy. The label focuses on the international development of promising artists who have a knack for setting discotheques alight.
Willy William, to name but the most famous artist in the catalog, has just released his version of the interplanetary hit ‘Life is Life’. Watch the lyric video.
