The Josephine Artists Prize 2025

The Prix Joséphine des Artistes – a prize awarded by artists, for artists – returns in 2025 to spotlight the most daring and creative albums in the French music landscape. True to its mission, the prize continues to reward bold artistic vision over commercial metrics, celebrating the rich diversity of today’s independent scene.
Read the interview of co-founders Frédéric Junqua and Christophe Palatre to learn more about the origins of the award and the philosophy behind it.
Last year, the Josephine Artists Prize shone a spotlight on the bold and singular talent of Bonnie Banane, who took home the award with her album Nini. The project was released in collaboration with our partner Grand Musique Management, a group that has always championed independent production and creative freedom.
This year, a selection committee of music journalists reviewed 322 submissions, which they narrowed down to a list of 40 albums based on quality, originality, and artistic risk-taking.
- IDOL is proud to announce that four standout productions from our catalogue have been included in this year’s first selection:
- Bryan’s Magic Tears – Smoke And Mirrors / Born Bad Records
- Leo Blomov – Blomovinho / Tricatel
- O’o – Songs of Wishes and Bones / InFiné
- Piers Faccini & Ballaké Sissoko – Our Calling / No Format
These albums reflect the spirit of the Prix Joséphine: uncompromising, genre-defying, and emotionally resonant. We are proud to support these artists and their teams, and thrilled to see their work recognized among the most exciting releases in France this year.
