New Entries is a fresh series to welcome our latest hires. This episode features Julie Cornen, Marius Braud and Johann Boehringer who recently started new positions at IDOL.

IDOL wants to welcome our new employees to the group and help you get to know them a little better. Last spring, Julie Cornen joined the Label Management team to support our labels, Marius Braud joined the DSP Editorial & Partnerships team to take care of our back catalog references, and Johann Boehringer took over our Berlin office to develop our presence in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Julie Cornen

What did you do before joining IDOL?

I spent five incredible years at Etendard Management as an Artist Manager, where I had the opportunity to work with artists such as Vladimir Cauchemar and Zed Yun Pavarotti. Being a manager is a true 360° role, you negotiate contracts, build strategies, book shows, and stay available around the clock.

Those intense years provided me with a strong skill set and a valuable network within the music industry.

What is your current job title?

I’m a label manager at IDOL. My role is to support labels at every stage of their releases. That can mean building marketing plans, defining timelines, developing content strategies, and setting goals with partners, all while working closely with the various IDOL departments.

What drew you to work with IDOL?

I’d already worked with IDOL back when I was doing artist management, and I’d always appreciated how professional and reliable they were. Their transparency through Labelcamp and their independence align perfectly with my own values, so I’m super proud to be part of the family now.

Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?

I love going to concerts of artists I don’t know. Sometimes I discover real gems, often where I least expect them. I also love to observe the audience and see how music brings together people from completely different backgrounds. When the crowd sings or screams with emotion, those are always powerful moments, and it makes me feel lucky to be part of this industry.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?

I discovered The Haunted Youth while working with Mayway Records. I instantly fell in love with this Belgian band and have been listening to them ever since. I love their melancholic indie rock sound, especially their latest single ‘Emo Song’ and ‘In My Head’. I can’t wait to see them live.

Marius Braud

What did you do before joining IDOL?

After several internships in the music industry during my studies at Sciences Po Paris, I joined Play Two for an apprenticeship in 2021, where I held the position of Key Account Manager & Business Development Lead for two years. In 2023, I decided to leave the company to focus full-time on my own music composition project and supporting other artists. Then, last April, I had the opportunity to join IDOL.

What is your current job title?

Within the DSP Editorial & Partnerships team, I work as DE&P Manager – Catalogue. My main mission is to promote IDOL’s back catalogue across streaming platforms.

What drew you to work with IDOL?

I’ve always been interested in platform relations. I thrived while workingin that field in my previous company and wanted to continue in that direction. So when the chance came up to join IDOL’s Retail team, I didn’t hesitate. I was genuinely excited to join an independent distributor that shares my values.

Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?

Since I was a teenager, I’ve been composing music on my laptop (MAO). Over the years, I’ve explored different styles and projects, and today I mainly produce electronic Club/Trance/Hyperpop music under the name Sadmachine. This passion has always driven me alongside my professional career. On top of that, I really appreciate how IDOL gives its employees the freedom to develop their own creative projects.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?

My role gives me the opportunity to dive into IDOL’s back catalogue every day. It’s a real pleasure, as I regularly come across hidden gems. My latest discovery is a recent release by Fully Bold, ‘Nature Is Closed’. I love the blend of electronic and organic sounds, and the warmth that this ambient/neoclassical track radiates.

Johann Boehringer

What did you do before joining IDOL?

I worked for Sony Music Germany until 2020 and then joined the Indie Label „A Million Music“. I started as Head of Marketing and then later led the label including A&R and Marketing department. In this role I was responsible for developing the more urban/rap focused repertoire and signing some electronic artists.

What is your current job title?

General Manager GSA. I am leading the German office in Berlin. I am responsible for both A&R and label management for some German labels. We’re looking forward to broadening our local roster, amplifying current DSP relations and eventually growing the team.

What drew you to work with IDOL?

I was convinced by the independent approach of developing artists and labels in the first place. After meeting a lot of IDOL employees, the overall good vibe in the company drew me to join the team.

Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?

For me working with IDOL gives me the opportunity to work on my rusty French. I learned French at school and was always interested in keeping a certain level or even improving it. Now that I am traveling regularly to Paris, this is a very good opportunity for me to have some conversations in French.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?

As I was always very interested in French rap music, I was very happy to see that the legend Rim’K just joined IDOL and is still releasing good stuff.
