IDOL Session: BEN plg

In early July, IDOL had the pleasure of hosting BEN plg on its premises to celebrate one of the more beautiful artistic development success stories of recent years. For just over two years, IDOL has made its modest contribution to this adventure, which seems destined for a bright future, as Pascal Bittard, president of IDOL, highlighted in his few words of introduction.
The acoustic session opened with a piano intro. Then, BEN plg, a Lille native, made his entrance, discreetly greeting the room, and letting his alchemy work. The audience, already won over, reacted from the very first line of ‘Béni‘ (Blessed). Taking advantage of this enthusiasm, the artist introduced Luis Galceran and invited the crowd to come closer.
The intensity rose with ‘Les TikToks de Bardella’, a track that united everyone. A nice moment of complicity occurred during a false start on ‘Trucs sentimentaux‘ (Sentimental stuff): BEN plg interrupted Luis, to ask him to start over… Then, with a smile, he changed his mind: “Actually, I don’t have to tell you that! Go ahead, play.” This spontaneity and kindness would punctuate the entire evening.
Before continuing, BEN plg took the time to warmly thank the IDOL teams. Then, as an introduction to the song ‘Dire Je T’aime‘ (Saying I Love You), the artist recalled the richness of Luis’s solo projects, a way of showing him his admiration and trust.
After ‘Chaque jour un peu plus‘ (A little more each day), BEN plg confided, with touching sincerity, how difficult it was to perform on such a small stage: “I did it on purpose, no auto-tune tonight,” he said with a laugh. The artist then again sought the support of the crowd, who had never failed him that evening. The entire basement sang “On tombe, on réessaye” in a vibrant ovation.
The atmosphere was not about to die down, as the rapper followed with ‘Prochaine fois‘ (Next time) to close the set with ‘Paraît que les miracles n’existent pas‘ (They say miracles don’t exist). After a healthy applause, BEN plg thanked the audience: “It was a pleasure to be with you. I hope you are proud of what you do!”
The audience sang the chorus at the top of their lungs, as if to ward off a spell, sealing an evening marked by generosity, emotion, and talent.
