IDOL Session: La Femme
Tonight, Pascal Bittard is a little emotional, as IDOL has accompanied La Femme since their second album Mystère, released in 2016. And usually, explains the IDOL founder, the band never does an acoustic set, “but for us they agreed to do it.” For this session, La Femme worked on tracks from the new album, to be released two days later, to give us a sneak preview.
La Femme are “the most independent band on the indie scene”, as Pascal Bittard describes them, and Rock Machine is their first album entirely in English, with the French accent that can win them the hearts of our neighbors across the Atlantic. The band opens the concert with ‘My Generation‘, then, lyrics in hand, move on to ‘I Believe in Rock’n’Roll‘.
Of course, preparing an all-acoustic session is no easy task, but the audience is there to cheer them on. In fact, the audience is eager to join in, so Marlon Magnée organizes an impromptu chorus on ‘Love Is Over‘, which seems written for the stadium crowds.
La Femme raises their glass and thanks the IDOL team:
"It's been a pleasure working with you for all these years, we've grown up with you”.
Marlon then entrusts his lyrics to Fanny Luzignant and launches into a keyboard solo on ‘Goodbye Tonight‘, and, to lift everyone’s spirits, segues into ‘Ciao Paris‘, which the audience already knows by heart.
As the set draws to a close, Sasha Got takes off his jacket and launches into an Irish-style ballad, the epic ‘Amazing‘, for which the applause never ceases. To close the session, La Femme has prepared a surprise: a medley mixing their hits ‘Sur La Planche‘, ‘Où Va Le Monde‘ and ‘Sacatela‘!
