What did you do before joining IDOL?
I initially worked for a production agency, Renko, with jazz artists like Ron Carter and Joey Alexander. My role involved securing concert dates for them, but prospecting wasn’t my favorite. Later, I joined [PIAS] first as a trade marketing assistant and then on a fixed-term contract in the sales department. I enjoyed being involved in project development.

What is your current job title?
I am a Digital Content Operations Manager. Essentially, our team handles catalog integration: delivery, switches, or takedowns (when a reference is no longer distributed by IDOL). It’s a smooth transition since I discovered IDOL’s releases while at [PIAS] . It allowed me to familiarize myself with the environment before joining the Digital Content Operations team. The precision of metadata is crucial for a project’s success. It’s meticulous work that enables artists to be discovered.

What drew you to work with IDOL?
I discovered the IDOL catalog in my previous role because [PIAS] handles IDOL’s physical distribution. In trade marketing, I reported sales, so I was aware of major releases like Jazzy Bazz.
Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?
I collect guitars: my goal is to have all types of guitars. Currently, I have a guitalele, a ukulele, a classical guitar, an electro-acoustic, a 12-string, and an electric guitar. Now, I would love to have a Gypsy guitar.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?
I have a Spotify playlist for all the artists I discover through Labelcamp or by exploring IDOL’s releases. My latest great discovery is Oscar #Worldpeace!

Harry Barrett

What did you do before joining IDOL?
I was previously working as a Streaming Data Analyst at Island Records. I spent my time analysing consumption trends and pitching to DSPs for playlist support across their eco-systems. I also supported the label in forecasting our chart results and monitoring competitor trends.

What is your current job title?
I’m a DSP Editorial & Partnerships Manager based in the London office. I spend my days pitching new releases to DSPs (Spotify, Apple, Amazon…), work on partnership programmes across our UK labels and assist the label management team with streaming targets & strategy.

What drew you to work with IDOL?
What drew me to working at IDOL was the range of artists and labels from multiple genres. It’s apparent that IDOL focuses on quality over quantity, so I knew all the labels I’d be working on would be carefully selected and to a high standard. I love the approach in delivering high quality music and not chasing viral moments or chart positions.

Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?
Outside of work I regularly DJ across bars in London and spend a lot of my time digging for new music for my gigs. I’ve always had a love for dance music, I started DJ’ing as a hobby at university so it’s great that I’m able to call it work now.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?
When I first visited the head office in Paris, it was on my list to check out Syncrophone, a record store I was familiar with before joining IDOL. I recently discovered that we manage their digital catalog, which includes some of my favourite producers such as Phil Weeks, Steven Tang, and DJ Honesty.

Victor Coridaß

What did you do before joining IDOL?
After starting out as publishing A&R, I freelanced for around seven years, starting with artist management which was then complemented with my little label. For the last three years with my partner joining, we aka ST.VLADIMIR also started doing creative direction and music video production. The video of Dussmann‘ by Betterov is my favorite and the one for On & On‘ by Alok & Dynoro is the trashiest.

What is your current job title?
DSP Editorial & Partnerships Manager, also known as a Key account manager, in Berlin. I’m in charge of promoting IDOL’s releases to editors at music streaming platforms.

What drew you to work with IDOL?
I’ve been following IDOL for many years, I even considered signing my label with them, because I always admired the curation and focus on tasty indie music. It’s very unique in the world of distributors to be as quality driven besides just looking at the cold numbers.

Can you share a personal anecdote or hobby that you’re particularly passionate about?
I have played football since I was four years old and will probably play until my bones fall apart. My club is situated in eastern Berlin, a suburb in particular, where right wing tendencies are a real problem. So we install a huge banner during every home game, showing we’re against this and support tolerance. It doesn’t change the world but maybe at least shows solidarity and lets people know what we stand for.

What’s your latest IDOL musical discovery?
Blick Bassy – LoBa – what a tune!
